Brunswick Georgia Agog as 2024 Igbo World Festival of Arts and Culture Kicks-off

The surge to be a part of the epic 2024 Igbo World Festival of Arts and culture reaches its climax as ndi-Igbo, their friends and well-wishers around the world jockey to fly into the Igbo Landing corridor in Brunswick, Georgia, USA, for the 11th World Igbo Festival of Arts and Culture, being organized by the Council of Igbo States in America (CISA). This fiesta, which has assumed a global dimension, kicks off Friday, August 2, and ends on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The festival provides opportunities for people to experience Igbo cultural heritage at its best. It further offers children and youths born in diaspora opportunities to be immersed in the culture of their ancestors.

Already, many people from all over the world have been arriving in Brunswick and Atlanta area in readiness for the main 2024 splendid Igbo cultural glamour. Among the eminent arrivals are the Royal Father of the Event, His Majesty Akajiofor Ndigbo Eze Chukwuemeka Eri, who is leading other prominent traditional leaders (Ezes and Igwes) from across Igbo land and the National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, who will have an open town hall question and answer session with diaspora Igbo leaders on issues pertaining to Ohanaeze, ndi-Igbo, and Nigeria.

Other notable dignitaries flying in to grace the occasion include delegations from Caribbean countries, West Indies and African Americans including the Gullah Geechee communities, (the Gullah Geechee’s are mainly the offsprings or great and great-great grandchildren of surviving Igbo landing heroes). Main hotels in the vicinity are being sold out with adjoining ones opening to accommodate the influx. Igbo land site and the city of Brunswick itself is agog in readiness for this spectacular event.

All these activities would culminate in a spectacular Grand Gala on Saturday, August 3, 2024. CISA is ensuring that every attendee feels that sense of patriotism, civic pride and love for country and therefore implore all, particularly the ndi-Igbo, their friend and all well-meaning people to come out and celebrate this cultural classic. The outpouring of praise CISA receives from the public and stakeholders alike speak well of the vibrant synergy inherent in the planning and execution of this celebration. CISA encourages people of all ethnic backgrounds, especially ndi-Igbo, to come out in their numbers and support this epic international festival.

The organizing committee led by the President, Dr. Mrs. Uzoamaka Aguoji and the planning chair Mazi Emeka Nwosu are promising to thrill guests with extraordinarily entertaining cultural packages that captivate all sensibilities and which will parade the beauty of authentic Igbo traditional values and worldview. This festival in Brunswick comes as a prospect for Igbo diaspora to showcase Igbo heritage, culture, and traditions while bringing to light sacrifices made in enhancing social integration as well as lessons learned as American society evolves
