Igbo Homeland-Diaspora Group Embarks on Reconnection Tour of Republic of Costa Rica, Central America

PRESS RELEASE:

The Igbo Homeland-Diaspora Group is pleased to announce its upcoming reconnection tour to the Republic of Costa Rica, Central America, scheduled from Sunday, 25 August to Monday 01 September 2024. This significant cultural journey will be led by Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze (Onowu Abagana) and is organized in partnership with the Centre for Igbo Studies (CIS), University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the Council of Igbo States in the Americas (CISA) and the Igbo World Assembly (IWA). The delegation comprising Dr. Anakwenze, CISA President, Dr. Mrs. Amaka Aguoji, and Maazi & Odoziaku Amadiebube Mbaama, will visit Costa Rica at the invitation of direct descendants of Ndigbo, who were part of the long distance global migration during the Atlantic slave trade, which took place between 1526 and 1867.
