Second Reconnection Program Becomes Part of an Annual Event
Following the success of the inaugural Reconnection program in 2010, CISA and other Igbo leaders moved to formalize the Reconnection and Naming Ceremonies as program(s) to be held annually at the Igbo Village in Staunton, Virginia.
The second Reconnection and Naming ceremonies took place on September 17, 2011.
Attendees Included:
- Representatives of the Nigerian Embassy in America.
- Igbo leaders and representatives of various organizations.
- African-American Professor, Dr Vernon Grier (Chief Onwa) – the designated elder that represented DNA confirmed African Americans of Igbo ancestry.
Blessing of Igbo Farm Village by Eze Nri
On Saturday July 30, 2011, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Obidiegwu Onyeso, Eze Nri Enweleana II of Anambra State Nigeria, visited Igbo Village to bestow traditional blessings and plant a traditional Nzu in Igbo Village.
Eze Nri was joined by other traditional rules from Nigeria and Igbo leaders in America. This occasion was hosted by Igbo World Assembly (IWA) and Council of Igbo States in Americas (CISA).
